about
I recorded a new album again. In the traditional hip-hop vein of self flattery I will now answer a few questions about the album (questions raised by me)….

Me: Why a new album?
Me: After every album I record I try to select two handfuls of songs from said album and rerecord these songs over J Dilla beats.

Me: J who?
Me: Don’t front. You know me and you know J. Dilla.

Me: I know, but for those who may not know…
Me: Right. Well, J. Dilla was my favorite beat maker of all time. He passed away a few years ago due to complications from lupus. When I heard the news I immediately recorded “Welcome 2 Evansville” which was my original rhymes over J. Dilla’s album “Welcome 2 Detroit.” After recording “Welcome 2 Evansville” I decided I would rerecord every album I ever did from there on out over j. Dilla beats.

Me: Why?
Me: Two reasons: 1. To make a small contribution to furthering his legacy. You can check what’s going on with his music, his foundation, and more at www.j-dilla.com. 2. There is nothing more Hip-hop than rapping over J. Dilla beats. And for anyone who knows me like you (me) they know that I’m a hip-hop junky!

Me: So, how does all this tie into your new album?
Me: Well, I took several songs from my last album, A Beautiful Break, and rapped them over the J Dilla’s instrumental version of his album, The Shining. I call it The Beautiful Shining. It features 10 of my songs rerecorded over J. Dilla beats. It also features two remakes from A Beautiful Break. My man, J Brookins (Indianapolis producer), hit me off with an incredible ill beat to use for “Voices.” And my Kansas City brethren, Deucifer, gave me a beat for “Letter pt 2.”

Me: Why should people pick up this album?
Me: Several reasons: 1. Because I’m rapping over J Dilla beats every beat on there is incredible. So, you can’t go wrong with that. 2. All proceeds from the sale of this album goes to the Walnut Hills Fellowship. In turn that money helps me work with several families in my neighborhood. 3. This album will open up your nasal passage by 10% allowing more oxygen in and giving you more access to your brain. This then allows you to think more clearly and enjoy life much more.

Me: Really?
Me: That’s what it did for me.

Me: Anything else you would like to add before we finish?
Me: Thanks for the interview. I really like you.
Me: I like you to man.
Me: Right on.
